In Waldbronn near Karlsruhe in February 2017 a new combined energy center built by the utilites company EnBW was officially inaugurated. The special aspect of this solution is that several large consumers are provided with different kinds of energy from one highly efficient energy center. This intelligent combination of different machines produces heat, cold and electricity and delivers it to two industrial sites and two municipal institutions.
Core piece of the combined energy center is our compact CHP unit GG 330 which produces 330 kW electricity and ca. 460 kW heat with over 90 % efficiency. A condensing heat exchanger provides additionally ca. 40 kW heat from the exhaust of the CHP unit and increases the thermal efficiency even further. The peak load boiler with 1.6 MW thermal power is rarely needed.
„The compliance with the named consumption and power data as well as a permanently reliable operation of the CHP unit are enormously important for the long-term success of this project. Since SOKRATHERM has convinced us in these aspects in several previous projects we are happy to have this partner on board again“ comments Wolfgang Frenzel, project engineer of EnBW. The combined energy center is described in depth in an article of the BWK magazine and a 3D-Scheme about the energy producers and consumers.
The project was awarded with the Contracting Award 2018 on the EnEff fair in Frankfurt (Main) by AGFW, the efficiency association for heat, cold and cogeneration.
