The interface developed by SOKRATHERM can communicate with the systems of various providers of balancing power.
To connect the CHP unit with the control center of the virtual power plant, usually a remote control switchgear cabinet is installed next to the CHP unit. SOKRATHERM has developed an interface which communicates directly with the control center of the virtual power plant through a second VPN tunnel using the already existing DSL connection for remote monitoring. This saves hardware and communication costs.
Before participating the balancing power market all CHP plants must prove their ability to regulate the power sufficiently, the so-called prequalification. SOKRATHERM CHP units fulfill the requirements needed for this prequalification in full scope.
